Sterilis LLC Selects Medical Equipment Repair Associates (MERA) to Service Next Generation Regulated Medical Waste Technology

North American Medical Equipment Services Company to Assist Sterilis with Device Repairs as it Continues to Disrupt the Regulated Medical Waste Landscape

BOXBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sterilis LLC, an innovative on-site point of care medical waste remediation company, announced that it has signed Medical Equipment Repair Associates (MERA) to a definitive multi-year agreement to provide repair and training services for Sterilis’ regulated medical waste remediation devices.

MERA will assist Sterilis’s service organization with installations, repairs, scheduled maintenance and other preventative maintenance activities, as well as special projects such as software updates.

“We are excited to partner with MERA. With this partnership, we strengthen our abilities and capabilities to offer professional, round-the-clock service to our customers,” said Bob Winskowicz, CEO of Sterilis. “Our priority is to provide a system that not only is safe and effective for all personnel, but that is also easy to use. By combining MERA’s service capabilities with our existing service organization, we further strengthen our abilities to deliver best-in-class customer service to our clients.”

Sterilis developed patented technology that combines a steam sterilizer with a grinder, allowing regulated medical waste to be treated on-site and on-demand at point-of-care in about 60 minutes, after which it can be thrown out with regular trash. It is being used in a variety of regulated medical waste settings including hospitals, community needle-drop centers, dialysis clinics, surgery centers, dermatology and ophthalmology practices, health clinics, prisons, clinical labs, nursing homes and acute care facilities.

Founded in 1973, MERA operates in both the United States and Canada and serves independent medical equipment and service companies that function as one organization. With 90 locations, MERA provides clients dependable, flexible and adaptable service.

“With Sterilis’ radical new approach to treating medical waste, customers need highly effective repair and training services to maximize their investment in the Sterilis device, and that’s where MERA excels,” said Carl Brinkman, director of sales and marketing at MERA. “Being a company that is familiar with working with medical equipment manufacturers, we are confident in the services MERA provides to our customers. Sterilis is truly changing the regulated medical waste landscape and we are excited to be a part of that.”
